About Us

Discover Montessori School is a non-profit BC certified Independent school & licensed child care facility.  Our programs are governed by Island Health's child care licensing authority as well as the BC Ministry of Education.

We follow the educational model and philosophy envisioned by Dr. Maria Montessori, which is perpetuated by Association Montessori Internationale.  We place a strong emphasis on personal and collective responsibility, for each other and for the Earth.  Within the Montessori academic framework, we teach the interconnectedness of all subjects, the importance of community, and we work toward developing peace through mutual respect, compassion, responsibility, and understanding.

Our programs offer experiential, hands-on learning for toddler through grade school aged students starting at age 1.5 through then end of grade 9 equivalent at age fifteen.

We enable each child's growing independence and work together with families to support the unique development and growth of each student as they progress through the curriculum at their own pace.
